Favourite coffee spot? Kenilworth Country Bakery!
Not only can you stop in for a heart warming coffee, the Kenilworth Bakery is also famously known for their delicious variety of donuts (including the 1kg donut challenge!). Obviously a coffee and a donut is the ultimate combo⦠but if you are up for something more unique you should try their coffee in a donut! Drink your coffee and eat your donut too, literally!
If you are travelling with furry friends, you can also pick up a special cookie or doggy donut so they don't feel left out.
Favourite activities? Strolling through the local markets, hiking to Kondalilla Falls, wandering up and down the shop lined streets of Maleny, Kenilworth and Mapleton.
Whilst those things are on the top of our activities list, our most favorite activity would have to be camping! There is something special about camping in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Whether it be at the local dairy farm with friendly cows or a private property in the valley with views to the ocean, they all come with a unique story. Camping feels like the closest thing to living like a local, and after hearing about the history of these properties and the generations involved, it gives you such an appreciation for the land and the local region.
Check out our drone footage from our camping adventure in Maleny.
Favourite spot for sunrise and sunset? Watching the sun rise up over the glass house mountains is something you can't miss. Equally, when the sun is setting in the hinterland, it completely changes the tones of colors in the sky that surround the Glass House Mountains as shadows and colors dance around them.
Favourite time of year there and why? Winter. Who doesn't love frosty mornings, crisp sunny days, crackling campfires, and misty evenings? Top that off with a hot coffee and a freshly baked donut from Kenilworth Bakery and you are set!
If you aren't into camping (especially in Winter), there are plenty of cute hinterland cabins boasting charm and perfect during the colder months. Take your coffee and donut to go and cozy up by the fireplace for the evening.
How can people best support the region? Come and see for yourself! Explore the local markets and grab yourself some fresh farm produce or hand made arts & crafts. Whether you visit for a day or a weekend away, your contribution to the local region will go a long way.
